Gary Schocker: Three Dances for Two Flutes and Piano
These three dances are perfect for good players who want to really enjoy themselves. Easy Going is a playful dialogue between the flutes, Moody is more reflective and Coffee Nerves is simply exhilarating. Each one would stand alone and the faster movements are ideal encore material. Michael Isaacson: November Song for Piccolo and Piano
This wistful piece by Michael Isaacson is great for those getting started on the piccolo as it’s written in the lower two octaves and will really develop tone control. It’s also a fabulous tune which anyone can play and everyone will love! Difficulty Guide: 5
Faure arranged Elisabeth Parry and John Alley: Après un Rêve – 12 Melodies for Alto Flute and Piano
These sumptuous gems are ideally suited to the warmer colours of the alto flute. Faure could certainly pen a melody and so there’s plenty of choice. Especially wonderful are Lydia with it’s expressive shaping of the phrase, the running semiquavers in Notre Amour and the darkness of Automne. Après un Rêve is extra special.
